Beef

Client: Consortium of two private Australian companies.

Brief: The consortium was presented with an opportunity to invest alongside an established corporate family beef operation. The anticipated investment was more than A$100m.

Our approach: We undertook a detailed review of the historical performance of the portfolio, and the wider sector, assessing productivity, returns, risk and development potential. An experienced management team was assembled who could operate and develop the target assets efficiently and at low cost.

Beef and crop production

Client: Large Australian private company specialising in beef cattle production.

Brief: The company was considering the acquisition of a $40m beef and cropping property in Queensland. Indigo Agriculture was retained to review the investment case.

Our response: We completed the full due diligence program within a tight timeline providing an extensive financial and production analysis, and scenarios.

Beef

Client: Offshore financial investment institution.

Brief: The company was considering extensive investment in the northern Australian beef industry and required a reliable analysis of the sector.

Our response: We undertook a detailed review of the historical performance of the northern Australian beef industry, production and returns which included analysis of the larger pastoral companies within the region.

Processing

Client: A major Australian regional council.

Brief: The council, in tandem with a private consortium, was assessing the option to develop a meat processing plant valued at approximately A$100m at a town within its jurisdiction.

Our response: We worked closely with the council and the consortium to evaluate the potential for this major processing initiative. This included working with potential suppliers of livestock and other production inputs for the facility, as well with state and federal governments.

Infrastructure

Client: International consultancy group on behalf of a state government.

Brief: Project review assessing the potential for the expansion of rail infrastructure in northern Australian to improve productivity.

Our approach: Our role was to peer review the financial modeling and methodology.

Processing

Client: Overseas industry participant with investment in processing and manufacturing operations in Australia, US and South America.

Brief: The client required expertise in the development of a Buy-side mandate to purchase a Queensland abattoir with an investment value over $25 million.

Our response: We worked with the purchaser on the valuation, due diligence and supply chain specifications which incorporated a detailed review of the existing operation and an assessment of risks and opportunities for the client. Considerable emphasis was placed on establishing a solid supply chain for the facility along with appropriate management for the operations.
